Dinky Dodo

Cookie Policy

Last updated: 16 May 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones Dinky Dodo uses, and what that means for you. The short version: we keep things as minimal as possible and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to website owners.

Not all cookies are the same. Some are essential for a website to function; others are used for analytics or advertising. This policy explains exactly which type we use.

2. The Good News: We Don’t Use Tracking Cookies

Dinky Dodo does not use advertising cookies, remarketing cookies, or any third-party tracking cookies. We do not build profiles of visitors, serve targeted adverts, or share browsing data with ad networks. This is especially important to us given that our service is used by parents on behalf of their children.

3. Cookies We Use

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They do not store any personally identifiable information and do not require your consent under UK PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations).

Cookie Purpose Duration
Session cookie Maintains your session as you move through the order flow (e.g. keeping your story details as you proceed to checkout) Session (deleted when you close your browser)
CSRF token Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks when submitting forms Session

3.2 Payment Cookies (Stripe)

When you proceed to checkout, you are directed to a payment page powered by Stripe. Stripe may set cookies on their hosted checkout pages for fraud prevention, security, and to ensure payments are processed correctly. These cookies are set by Stripe, not by Dinky Dodo, and are strictly necessary for the payment process to function.

You can read more about how Stripe uses cookies in their Cookie Settings and Privacy Policy.

3.3 Analytics (Plausible)

We use Plausible Analytics to understand how visitors use our website — for example, which pages are most visited and where traffic comes from.

Plausible is a privacy-first analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not collect any personally identifiable information. It tracks only aggregate, anonymised data such as page views, referrer sources, and country-level location. Because Plausible is cookieless, it does not require your consent under UK PECR or UK GDPR.

Plausible is operated in the EU and does not share data with Google or any advertising networks. You can read more at plausible.io/privacy.

4. What We Don’t Use

To be explicit, Dinky Dodo does not use:

  • Google Analytics or any Google tracking products
  • Facebook Pixel or any Meta tracking tools
  • Advertising or remarketing cookies of any kind
  • Third-party behavioural tracking or profiling tools
  • Any cookies that track children or build profiles based on their data

5. Do We Need Your Consent?

Under UK PECR, consent is only required for cookies that are not strictly necessary — for example, analytics or advertising cookies. Because:

  • Our own analytics tool (Plausible) is cookieless and requires no consent, and
  • The only cookies we set directly are strictly necessary for the website and checkout to function,

we do not display a cookie consent banner. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this policy and introduce appropriate consent mechanisms before doing so.

6. Managing Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Please note that disabling strictly necessary cookies may affect your ability to complete an order. Guidance for common browsers:

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we introduce new features or third-party services. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check back periodically.
