We always get asked what is the difference between a static website and a content management system. For years new customers have been confused by the difference between the two and it has never fully been explained. CMS technology has been available for years and the growth of these systems is making the web more competitive in the search rankings.

From April 2012, DinkyDodo.com will be creating all websites in HTML5 fit for the new wave of web browsers and technology. Devices such as iPad and iPhones now only use HTML5 and no longer use Flash videos.
Organisations such as YouTube, Google, Facebook and Twitter all have HTML5 compliant websites which means their websites are built for the future. We want the same for our clients.
The world is turning digital and so are the majority of industries including the entertainment industry. Organisations such as Spotlight and Casting Call Pro provide an online web presence with limiting factors. We know they provide enough tools for your CV, Sound Files for voice overs and music, show reels, head shots, and links to other websites (Casting Call Pro only). What about the rest a website has to offer? How important can it be?
From my recent blog post you’ll know what website localisation involves; now let’s look at how to achieve it.
There are three main elements to think about: copy, design and SEO.
Copy
There are two ways to prepare your copy for a foreign language website: transcreation and foreign language copywriting.
Transcription involves taking the original copy from a website and localising it so that it works in the new target market. This not only means translating the text but also ensuring it is culturally appropriate for the target market.
Social Media Marketing is advertising and networking through a social media website, RSS feeds, blogs or article sites. Search Engine Marketing and Search Engine Optimisation is targeted at the keywords a user types into the search bar. Social Media Marketing is targeted at profiles created by people who use the social media network. A number of social media networks have different methods of advertising to one another and requires different marketing techniques. On Twitter, you have 140 characters to get across information to your followers.
Have you ever wondered what the search results are on the right hand side of Google? Those are paid adverts and companies pay good money for your click onto their website. There are two differences between the search results that you receive from search engines. One is your organic search results, which Google calculates as being the most likely website for your search (for more information please read our article on Search Engine Optimisation or SEO) and these are free. However, companies such as ours would like to get to Google and target a specific audience with our online marketing.
When you want to search for a particular item or term online you automatically visit a search engine such as Google, Bing or Yahoo. You type in the words that you want to search for and click the button. Once you have done that the search engine will show you a list of website containing those keywords in the center, and the right hand side of their web page. The right hand side results are paid adverts relating to your search criteria (also known as Pay-Per-Click Advertising), where as the results in the middle of the page, without any highlights are organic search ratings.
